El Carriel Colombian Coffee Co. was born from a deep connection to family, culture, and coffee tradition.
My name is Juan Fernando, founder of El Carriel Coffee. As a first-generation Colombian and proud Latino LGBTQ+ business owner, I created this brand to honor my roots and share the authentic experience of Colombian coffee culture with others.
This journey began in Jericó, Antioquia, a small town nestled in the Colombian Andes where coffee is more than a drink. It’s part of everyday life, a symbol of community, and a tradition passed down through generations.
With family still farming and living in Jericó, I’ve witnessed firsthand the care, resilience, and craftsmanship behind every bean. Through El Carriel Coffee, I hope to bring a piece of home to every cup.
Named after the traditional Colombian leather satchel carried by farmers and coffee workers, the carriel represents hard work, heritage, and pride, values that guide everything we do.
